Black Hills Speedway
The Black Hills Speedway is a 3/8 mile semi-banked dirt oval track located on the east side of Rapid City, South Dakota. This is the place where adults who like to act like kids, race around the track in an effort to be the first one across that finish line. The Black Hills Speedway accommodates a variety of auto racing including sprints, late model, stock car races, and modifieds.
The dirt track at the Black Hills Speedway was once ½ mile in length, but over the years, the track has been shortened to 3/8 mile. Despite the change in length, the track can provide some exciting racing for any avid race fan or for the novice who just wants to see what the noise is all about.
After a day exploring Mount Rushmore, or any of the exception sights and attractions in the Black Hills of South Dakota, travel to the east side of Rapid City, and take in the races. Several classes race during each event including stock cars, sprint cars, and modifieds. Cheering on your favorite car and/or driver can be a lot of fun.
Above the track is a restaurant and bar. If you arrive early enough, you can be one of the lucky ones who can enjoy the races in an air conditioned environment while dining on prime rib, steaks, or shrimp and enjoying your favorite soda or beer. The restaurant and bar is available on a first come first serve basis.
