Overview

Campbell Country Rockpile Museum
Learn about the cultural and natural history of Campbell County when you visit the Rockpile Museum. Located in the heart of Gillette, the museum showcases regional artifacts including clothing, saddles, quilts and other memorabilia as well as natural items such as dinosaur fossils, rocks and other mining materials. Open from 9 am – 5 pm, Monday through Saturday. Admission is free.
Eagle Butte Coal Mine Tours
Stop in at Gillette’s Visitor Center and register for a free coal mine tour (summer only). Wildlife including deer, antelope and birds of prey are often spotted on the 17-mile drive south to Eagle Butte Coal Mine, and once at the facility, you’ll experience the mining process up close and personal.
Getting Here
From Spearfish, SD, the drive to Gillette, WY is just an easy 90 minute journey west on Interstate 90.
Along the 95 mile route, travelers may wish to stop in the town of Sundance, or exit onto Hwy 14 N near the town of Moorcroft and take the short journey to Keyhole State Park and Reservoir.
