Grand Teton National Park
Although Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming isn't as famous as nearby Yellowstone National Park, it is extremely beautiful and worth visiting. An excellent cross country road trip would combine the Black Hills in South Dakota, Devils Tower National Monument, Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. These four landmark areas span about 10 hours of driving, but each area alone could fill several days of vacationing. They are each unique and beautiful in their own way. You'll remember the historical sites of the Black Hills, the abruptness of Devils Tower, the out-of-this-world steam beds and geysers of Yellowstone and the dramatic rise of the Tetons.

Grand Teton National Park is on the western edge of Wyoming along Hwy
US 287/191/89. The park is characterized by rugged mountain
peaks, a rich diversity of wildlife, and the ability to go for a hike
without seeing any other people. Don't worry though, there are a
few very popular hikes in Grand Teton National Park where visitors are
sure to share the trail with other tourists.
As you drive in to Grand Teton National Park, you will be amazed by the
sharpness of the Teton Range. As you get closer to the mountains,
you will be surprised by the beauty of 7 clear blue lakes nestled in to
the hillsides. A great choice for a hike is the Hidden Falls
trail. Park at the Jenny lake lot and take a boat tour across the
lake. The boat will drop you off on the other side where you can
pick up the trail up to Hidden Falls. Continue up the canyon to
reach true alpine terrain and vistas, or return to Jenny Lake where the
boat will be waiting for you!
Most other hikes access the canyons that run between each of the Teton
mountain peaks. If you are in superb shape, you'll even be able
to create a loop by hiking up one canyon, over a pass, and down
another! Be sure to consider that Grand Teton National Park is at
an elevation of 7,000 feet. Stop by the visitor center for more
information and advice about trails and camping.
In the nearby town of Jackson, restaurants, hotels and all services are
available including an airport, rental cars, guided rafting, guided
climbing, boat rentals, and snowmobile rentals in the
winter!
