Opened as a pharmacy during the Depression, this singular, family-run drug store has become the most popular attraction in Wall. Thousands of interesting gift items are packed into this mall, including local artifacts, bobble-heads, billboards, and statues. Eat at one of the restaurants, let the kids roam the arcade and play area, and grab a free glass of ice cold water and bumper sticker. Open year-round with variable seasonal hours. No admission fee.
Wounded Knee Museum
Located in Wall, the Wound Knee Museum narrates the events leading up to and including the devastating Wounded Knee Massacre. Browse the exhibits and see historic photographs and text that bring the event to life. Open daily from May through mid-October. $6/adult, children under 12 free.
Badlands National Park
7 miles south of Wall is the Pinnacles entrance to Badlands National Park. Explore the park's rugged scenery and learn about the ancient animals that once roamed this dramatic area. Tour the Badlands Loop Road and visit the Ben Reifel Visitor Center.
Buffalo Gap National Grasslands
This 600,000-acre expanse is located a few miles southeast of Wall. Rockhounds will find no end of specimens including agates, jasper and quartz. Other activities include hiking, biking, and horseback riding, wildlife viewing, and ATV riding. Open all year with no admission fees.
