Adams Museum & House

The Adams House and Museum offer changing exhibits representing history of the Black Hills. If you've been here before, chances are the exhibits will change your second time through. The Adams House was built in 1892 in a typical 19th century Victorian style.

It was home to two families in the 19th century that don't represent the cliché Wild West. In 1930 W.E. Adams built a history museum, making it the oldest museum displaying the history of the Black Hills. His mission in creating it was to preserve local history and culture, honor pioneers, and to educate future generations on the legend of Deadwood. Pass through its exhibits and enjoy artifacts from the days of Calamity Jane and Wild Bill. Also check out various fossils and collectables. The Adams House has also been restored and refinished to keep its original style. It has remained unchanged for 50 years. The house and museum are open year round and are located in downtown Deadwood, South Dakota.
