Keystone Historical School And Museum

Tour through the Keystone Historical Museum and learn about the personalities that founded and shaped Keystone. Explore exhibits on the people who found the first gold mines in the area, the tools they used and collections of their findings. Pass through historic photos of the Black Hills Gold Rush and Tin Boom.

Experience the lives and stories of characters like Peter Norbeck, Carrie Ingalls, and CC Gideon, who represent the lifestyle, hardships, and growth of the area. The museum is actually located within the old Keystone School. It was built in 1900 and was the primary school until 1988. You are actually standing on history as you pass through the rooms of the school house. The upstairs classrooms have been preserved in its original design with antique furniture. The Keystone Historical School and Museum are open from 10am to 3pm during the months of June, July, and August. Admission is free.
