The mountains and forests of the Black Hills include a treasury of six national parks, 101 miles of National Scenic Byways, waterfalls, wildlife and recreational trails - all of which are easily accessible by various means of transportation.

Overview

It’s easy to get to the Black Hills Region of South Dakota. The area is vast, but there are many ways to get into the various areas of the Region. You can drive, fly, or take a bus.

Driving

The South Dakota Department of Transportation keeps all highways servicing the Black Hills region in excellent driving condition, ever during the more severe winter months. Interstate 90 is the main route for driving to the Black Hills, but you can also enter the area on east-west highways US 16, US 18, US 212, SD 34 or SD 40. North-south highways are US 85, US 385 and SD 79.
