South Dakota boasts as being the home to a total of 65 different courses, 38 public, 15 semi-private and 10 private.
There is a picturesque eighteen-hole golf course located within the evergreen forest covered mountains west of Hot Springs, South Dakota. Golf Digest gave this little mountain wonder a 4 star rating and selected it as one of its places to play. It was also chosen as one of the best little golf courses in the heartland of American by the National Golf Foundation.
The greens fees at all courses open to the public are very reasonable when compared to those of golf courses in other parts of the country.
If you're just looking for some good old family fun, you may want to try some of the various mini-golf courses in the Black Hills region. Some of the mini-golf courses are lighted to permit evening play. Weather permitting; they are generally open from May to the middle of September.
